Are background checks available in all countries?

Background checks are available in 150+ countries. The United States is currently not supported.

What does a background check cover?

RemotePass screens against 110,000+ public databases covering criminal records, fraud watchlists, global sanctions lists, politically exposed persons (PEP) lists, and terrorist registries. Employment history, education verification, and drug testing are not included in the standard check.

When can I request a background check?

You can request a check at any point, before or after the worker is onboarded. The same goes whether they’re contractors, Employer of Record employees or direct hires.

Who can see the report?

Only you. Results are delivered as a secure PDF downloadable from your RemotePass dashboard. RemotePass does not have access to the report.

Is the background check process compliant with data privacy laws?

Yes. The process is GDPR compliant and requires worker consent before any screening takes place. Our screening partner holds SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certification.
