MEET THE COMPANY

Tabby is one of the Middle East's fastest-growing fintech companies. As the team scaled internationally, cross-border banking restrictions and manual payroll processes started creating real friction. When a sudden regulatory change caused the majority of their international transfers to be rejected overnight, a manageable problem became an urgent one.

The Challenge:

Payroll infrastructure that couldn't keep pace with growth

Tabby's payroll setup wasn't built for the complexity of their growth. Direct transfers from the UAE to contractors in Serbia and Ukraine were blocked by banking restrictions. Workarounds meant country-by-country spreadsheets of bank details, where a single incorrect digit triggered a rejected transfer and a delayed salary. As Nastya Poroshkova put it, the growing team made it "more and more complicated to manage all of the different country transfers."

The blockers:

  • Banking restrictions: Key markets were simply unreachable via direct UAE transfer.
  • Manual overhead: Every pay cycle meant collecting, verifying and reconciling bank data across multiple countries.
  • Document burden: Around 20-25 additional bank documentation requests landed every month, each one requiring manual handling.

The solution

Tabby didn't need a platform that worked in easy countries. They needed one that worked where banking infrastructure made cross-border payments genuinely difficult. RemotePass's multi-country payment rails handled the transfers banking restrictions had blocked, while self-service banking details let contractors manage their own data directly, cutting the admin bottleneck out of the process entirely.

  • Single-transfer simplicity: One payment to RemotePass covers the full contractor base. Distribution, regardless of country, is handled from there.
  • Error recovery: Contractors fix their own banking details if something's rejected. Tabby's finance team stays out of it.
  • Banking reach: Full coverage across markets where UAE banks can't transfer directly.

Implementation

RemotePass was already live for a small number of Serbian contractors when the August 2023 crisis hit. Tabby migrated their full international payroll within a single pay cycle, with no missed payments.

The results

Three years in, RemotePass runs all of Tabby's remote contractor payroll. What was a monthly operational headache is now one transaction.

What changed for Tabby

  • Previously unreachable markets → full payroll coverage across every region Tabby operates in
  • 20-25 monthly bank document requests → eliminated
  • Manual reconciliation every pay cycle → contractors self-manage, finance stays focused
  • Payroll uncertainty in new markets → infrastructure that scales wherever Tabby hires next
